Travel companions – Then Now Later

Semir himself came new to the Netherlands as a minor, alone. He writes beautiful texts and poems, he works and he is an expert by experience at SAMAH.
“I want to show people in this book, how young newcomers were when they were small in their own country and how they are now. Do they have the same dreams, do they have the same vision of the future now that they used to have? And what development have they gone through?”
The book also talks about how they made the journey to the Netherlands. Did anything bother them, trauma, physical or mental? After 5, 6 years in the Netherlands, young people have developed something new, like a new talent or a new hobby.
The message of this book is for young people themselves. As a mirror in which they can see themselves. Then, now and later. Who were we, who are we and what does our future look like.
And this book has a message not only for young people, but also for the Dutch public, such as social workers, municipalities, counsellors and actually for everyone who wants to know more about who we are. We are young, we are alone, we are new to the Netherlands. We are learning a new language, we are learning a new culture and we have to get used to a new system. Actually, we fight every day to develop ourselves. To give ourselves a good future.
